At Dog & Whistle, we put everything into every meal we make — human-grade ingredients, in-house preparation, and real care for your dog’s health. We want you and your pup to love what you receive. This policy explains how we handle refunds, replacements, and cancellations so you always know where you stand.

A Note on Fresh & Perishable Food

Because Dog & Whistle meals are made fresh with no artificial preservatives, we are unable to accept physical returns of food products for health and safety reasons — just as you wouldn’t return fresh groceries to a store. This is consistent with industry standards for fresh pet food.

However, this does not mean you are without options. We are committed to making things right if something isn’t working for you or your pet. Please read our Happiness Guarantee and Damage Policy below.

The Dog & Whistle Happiness Guarantee

We believe in our food — and we want you to as well. If you are a first-time Dog & Whistle customer and your dog does not take to our food, or if you are not satisfied with your first order for any reason, contact us within 14 days of confirmed delivery and we will issue a full refund or send a replacement order at no charge.

Transitioning Your Dog to Dog & Whistle

Switching to a fresh, whole-food diet is a meaningful change for your dog’s digestive system. Some dogs transition immediately and enthusiastically — others need a little time. We always recommend a gradual transition over 7–10 days, mixing increasing amounts of Dog & Whistle with your dog’s current food.

During this period, you may notice changes in stool consistency or eating habits. This is completely normal and is not a sign that something is wrong with the food. We do not issue refunds based solely on a transition period adjustment. If you have concerns about your dog’s response to our food, please reach out to us — we are always happy to help troubleshoot.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders

We take great care in preparing and packaging every order, but occasionally things happen in transit. If your order arrives damaged, spoiled, or incorrect, we want to know right away.

How to Report a Damaged or Incorrect Order

  • Contact us within 7 days of confirmed delivery
  • Email info@dogandwhistle.com from the address used for your original purchase
  • Include your order number and a photo of the damaged or incorrect item(s)
  • Our team will review your request and arrange a replacement or refund promptly

Dog & Whistle reserves the right to request photographic documentation for damage claims. Claims submitted outside the 7-day window may not be eligible for replacement or refund.

Subscription Cancellation

When Can I Cancel?

You may cancel your Dog & Whistle subscription at any time — there are no long-term commitments or cancellation fees. We believe you should stay because you love the product, not because you’re locked in.

How to Cancel

You can cancel your subscription in either of the following ways:

  • Online: Log into your account at www.dogandwhistle.com and manage your subscription from your account dashboard.
  • By Email: Contact us at info@dogandwhistle.com with your account email and a request to cancel. Our team will confirm cancellation within 1–2 business days.

Cancellation Deadlines

To avoid being charged for your next order, cancellation requests must be submitted at least 2 business days before your next scheduled processing date. Cancellations received after your order has been processed and sent to fulfillment cannot be guaranteed.

  • Once an order is confirmed by our fulfillment center, it cannot be cancelled
  • If your order has already shipped, contact the carrier directly to redirect or refuse delivery
  • You will receive a confirmation email once your cancellation is processed

Skipping or Modifying an Order

Need to pause, skip, or adjust an upcoming order? No problem. You can make changes to your subscription — including skipping a delivery, changing your meal selection, adjusting portion sizes, or updating your delivery address — at any time through your account dashboard or by contacting us at info@dogandwhistle.com.

Modifications must be submitted at least 2 business days before your next scheduled processing date to take effect on that order. Changes requested after the processing cutoff will apply to the following delivery.

One-Time & Non-Subscription Orders

For one-time purchases, refund eligibility follows the same Happiness Guarantee terms outlined above for first-time customers. For returning customers placing one-time orders, please contact us at info@dogandwhistle.com and we will do our best to find a satisfactory resolution on a case-by-case basis.

We are a small, mission-driven business and we genuinely want every customer to feel good about their purchase. We will always do our best to make things right.

Third-Party & Marketplace Purchases

If you purchased Dog & Whistle products through a third-party platform such as DoorDash or another authorized retailer, your purchase is subject to that platform’s return and refund policies. Please contact the platform or marketplace directly for assistance with those orders.

For orders placed directly through www.dogandwhistle.com, this Refund & Cancellation Policy applies in full.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method used at the time of purchase. Please allow 5–7 business days from the date your refund is approved for the credit to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or card issuer.

Shipping and handling fees are non-refundable unless the return or refund is the result of our error (e.g., a damaged, incorrect, or missing order).
